  • 2018 The Sadie Family ‘Columella’ Red

    $129.99

    Winemaker Notes

The presence of Syrah is in decline in the final blend and the influence of Grenache, Cinsaut, Carignan and Tinta Barocca is more pronounced. The Mourvèdre component is the strongest it has ever been and has brought an amazing dynamic about in terms of the finishing of the wine – persistence.

2018 is a wine with a big temperament: explosive, but not excessive. It is like a plane with perfect aerodynamics, flying effortlessly; very much in line with 2001, 2008, and 2011.

  • STARK-CONDE, SYRAH STELLENBOSCH (2015)

    $21.99

This wine is primarily built around a very stony vineyard that just seems to produce better and better quality as the vines age. Typically of our vineyards, it makes an elegant, floral wine rather than a big in-your-face style. From the previous vintage we started to introduce a small amount of co-fermented Viognier and Roussanne….

  • THE CURATOR, RED BLEND SWARTHLAND

    $12.99

This wine is matured mostly in concrete tanks and old casks it’s blended really early so that the components get some time together to integrate properly before the wine is bottled. 15 months maturation is the norm before we start thinking of bottling.

  • THE CURATOR, WHITE BLEND SWARTLAND

    $12.99

The Chardonnay was naturally fermented and took a long time to complete fermentation, resulting in great texture and wacky aromas of dried peaches and apricots and ripe citrus. The Viognier, from one of Badenhorsts favorite growers and vineyards, completes the Swartland canvas and brings some spice and palate length to the wine.

  • The Sadie Family PALLADIUS 2018

    $119.99

Meyer lemon pith, raw honeycomb, wax melon, and yellow apple skin. Medium-bodied, the 13.5% alcohol wine is majestic on the palate, displaying a tightly wound mineral tension, a waxy and textural mouthfeel, and a kiss of phenolic bitterness to make this absolutely food-friendly and age-worthy. • WATERKLOOF, SERIOUSLY COOL CHENIN BLANC

    $20.99

This Chenin Blanc flaunts pronounced aromas of stone fruits, lime and also shows off elegant floral notes. With the combination of concrete eggs and barrels, it gives us a wine that has great structure…
